Aviation Security - Cargo
Department
for Transport - Changes in Known Customer Arrangements
We have
just recently heard from the DfT that their plans to revise
the security audit methods have been further delayed until January
2003.
Just
to remind those shippers who presently enjoy "Known Customer"
status or those are maybe considering becoming "Known Customers"
what that revision is to be, read on......
The DfT
has decided to introduce a system of independant security audits
to replace the present system whereby forwarders conduct such
audits. A whole new raft of independant security audit agencies
are to be set up and it will be these companies alone that will
undertake the annual security audits required by the Aviation
Security legislation.
This
alteration is being introduced as it takes away any vested commercial
interest that forwarders may have in allowing the audit to go
through "on the nod."
Further
and more detailed information is to be published shortly by
the Department for Transport and a further bulletin will be
posted on this site as soon as we are able to do so.
